The band was one of seven to compete in the C grade division of the championships at Her Majesty's Theatre, in Ballarat recently.
Band president Craig Warren said members were "over the moon" with the result.
"The band was placed first at the recent Bendigo Competition and to achieve second place in such a high quality field at the state titles is a fantastic achievement," he said.
"Our musicianship has been steadily rising in recent months and the competition results are a great indicator of this improvement."
Mr Warren said while the band liked to compete, it also performed publicly.
"We are a local brass band and we make every effort to play as often as we can in public," he said.
"The band enjoys not only competitions but also playing and performing in Bendigo and other communities."
