The two Bendigo Football Netball League powerhouses have had stellar seasons in 2014, yet the final game of the regular season will determine which team will secure first place.
Currently the Roos hold the spot, they have held on to the position since the beginning of the season.
Gisborne coach Kerryn Jorgenson believes her opponents won’t give it up so easily.
“All the girls know if we win we will finish on top and they are all keen to get the win,” she said.
“They have been on top for most of the year, so I guess they will want to come out and win the game as well.”
In the second half of the season, the Bulldogs have been one of the teams to beat, after winning its past 10 games.
“We started slow in the first half of the season, but we have really played well in the second part of the season,” Jorgenson said.
“A game like this will be good for us before the finals; the game will be played in a finals like atmosphere.”
Star mid-court player Tiana Newman has been out of the side for the past few weeks and will be touch and go to play on Saturday afternoon.
“She has been training a bit this week,” Jorgenson said.
“We are not sure if we will leave her out for another week.”
Gisborne will host Kangaroo Flat at Gardiner Reserve on Saturday at 3.20pm.
In other Bendigo Football Netball League games Kyneton will play-off against fellow finals contender Maryborough.
Strathfieldsaye will also host South Bendigo.
After a disappointing start to the season the Bloods will be aiming to finishing its season off on a high, chasing its sixth win of the year.
Sandhurst will play against Eaglehawk at the Queen Elizabeth Oval courts.
The Dragons have won five games this season; they sit in seventh position on the A-grade ladder.
The finals bound Golden Square will have its final hit out of the regular season against Castlemaine at Camp Reserve.
