Aldersey was a joint winner in the sport, regional section for his photograph Heat Stroke at the Pacific Area Newspaper Publishers’ Association Awards, presented in Sydney on Thursday night.
Bendigo Advertiser NewsNow was highly commended in the digital News Site of the Year (winner Newcastle Herald) and Digital Publishing Innovation of the Year categories (winner The Straits Times, Singapore).
It was also a finalist in the Daily Regional Newspaper of the Year awards (winner Newcastle Herald).
Jon Gellweiler of the South Western Times shared Aldersey's award.
Bendigo Advertiser photographer Glenn Daniels was also a finalist in the portrait, regional section for his photograph Jack Eyes Home Run of young Bendigo baseballer Lachlan Jack.
General manager Margot Falconer and editor Rod Case attended the conference.
"The PANPA award is fantastic recognition for Jim's great work," Mr Case said.
"Good photographers dare to be different and this photograph was a true testament to that theory.
"It's great to see a talented young photographer being recognised for his initiative and ability."
PANPA Marketing Awards judges on Wednesday awarded Bendigo Advertiser NewsNow winner of the Regional Consumer Campaign of the Year award.
NewsNow was also short-listed as a regional finalist for the Trade Campaign of the Year Award.
The Newspaper Works chief executive Mark Hollands said PANPA had received 1000 entries for the awards this year.
