A VICTORIAN magistrate who sits in Bendigo and has lost his driver's licence for six months will not be precluded from hearing traffic cases.
Fairfax Media on Wednesday first reported that magistrate David Faram would be banned from sitting on such matters.
But the office of the chief executive of the Magistrates Court soon after informed Fairfax Media that that assertion was wrong.
It is not known what offence he committed.
Chief Magistrate Peter Lauritsen confirmed in a statement on Wednesday, after an inquiry from Fairfax Media, that a colleague had had his licence suspended for six months.
Mr Lauritsen said the magistrate was "deeply embarrassed and sorry" over the matter.
