So the Lions Club of Eaglehawk is in the swing of a major fundraising project - its annual Father’s Day raffle.
Up for grabs this year is a television and tool box, valued at $2000.
The community group is selling tickets across the city in the hope to raise as many dollars as possible for community projects. Local businesses have thrown their support behind the fundraising efforts by selling tickets, which Eaglehawk Newsagency owner Charron Tarinor said was a small way in which to help the club.
“The Lions club does really worthy work with our community,” Ms Tarinor said. “They are average people giving back to the community with no expectations of anything in return for themselves.
“I encourage anyone who hasn’t already to buy a ticket as it’s a good way to support our community.”
Club president Ed Williams encouraged people to “be in it to win dad a top present”.
“It’s a great way to raise funds for community projects - for $2 you have the chance to win a tool box and TV... and what dad wouldn’t like to unwrap that on Father’s Day?” Mr Williams said.
"It's fantastic that businesses in Eaglehawk support what we do so please shop at those stores and help them to help us."
Tickets are on sale at Eaglehawk Newsagency, Eaglehawk Post Office, Mckern Steel, Bill’s Fish Shop, Fitzpatrick’s Home Hardware and Borough Tyre Service.
Business wanting to purchase or sell tickets can contact club secretary Paul Green on 0437 797 894 or Ed Williams on 0423 070 534.
The raffle will be drawn at noon on September 6 at IGA Long Gully. All proceeds go towards community projects.
