The Christian-affiliated not-for-profit station’s first on-air appeal raised more than $11,000.
Life FM intends to use the funds for projects including a care line for listeners, online streaming and general running costs.
General manager Mikey Dynon paid tribute to the volunteers who helped the station raise funds.
“Our volunteers were sensational during the appeal and put in tireless hours for what was a tiring but rewarding week,” Mr Dynon said. “I also want to thank God because without him none of this would be possible.”
Mr Dynon said many listeners contacted the station during the appeal to express their gratitude for the “family friendly” nature of the programming.
“I had many great conversations with listeners during the appeal and the overwhelming response was that they love having the radio on without worrying what their kids might hear,” Mr Dynon said.
He said the appeal’s success showed LIFE FM had a growing audience.
The station’s membership has increased by 25 per cent and likes on its Facebook page have nearly tripled in the last year.
Mr Dynon is the only paid member of staff, with 20 others working on a volunteer basis. "We’d love to get more paid staff on board," he said.
