Bendigo Highway Patrol Leading Senior Constable Niall King said the motorcycle rider pulled into Helm Street near the intersection of Helm Street and Wesley Street.
He said the motorcycle rider was attempting to cut across Wesley Street but didn't see a ute travelling west, due to the sun blocking his vision.
He said the male motorcycle rider was recovering in hospital and would be interviewed at a later date.
He said no charges had yet been laid.
UPDATE 6.05pm: An Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman says the motorcyclist injured in a crash in Kangaroo Flat has been taken to Bendigo Health for a hip injury.
She said the injury was non-life threatening.
5.50pm: Paramedics are treating a motorcycle rider after a crash in Kangaroo Flat.
Sergeant Joel Smith said the rider was injured when his motorbike and a white car collided near the intersection of Helm Street and Wesley Street.
He said the motorcyclist had suffered leg injuries as a result of the collision.
