The event is a collaboration between La Trobe University student group Get Psyched! and the Bendigo branch of the Australian Psychological Society.
Event organiser Daniel Wright said addiction to methamphetamine (ice) was a major issue in the region and club members were keen to gain a scientific understanding of how the body becomes addicted to it.
“Ice addiction is a huge issue in our community and we believe an understanding of the basic psychology behind how the drug impacts brain and behaviour, and how this leads to addiction, is essential to addressing it," Mr Wright said.
"We hope this event will raise awareness around this issue and spark new and creative ways of addressing it," he said.
"I’m really interested in how addiction works."
The event will be held at The Exchange on September 3 between 8 and 9pm.
The public is invited to attend.
