The girl, now 14, spoke on Tuesday at the plea hearing of a man she once called a friend.

"My innocence was taken away from me," she said.

"You've killed the happy, carefree girl I was. I never wanted my first time to be like that."

The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was almost 20 when he had sex with the girl at his family's home in November 2012.

During a period of several months during 2012, the man and girl, who had known each other for four years, communicated on Facebook.

But what began as "friendly banter" developed into sexually explicit exchanges.

Bendigo County Court heard the man arranged to pick the girl up from a Bendigo cricket ground and had sex with her three times in an afternoon before she asked him to stop.

During a three-month period, the man also asked her to send him explicit pictures of herself.

He pleaded guilty on Tuesday to sexual penetration of a child under 16 and procuring a minor for child pornography.

Reading her victim impact statement in court, the girl cried and stumbled over words as she told the man no apology could make up for what he had done.

"I thought you were my friend but friends don't do what you did," she said.

"My life has been a living hell. I have to live with this everyday."

Judge Duncan Allen described the statement, and one written by the girl's mother, as harrowing.

The court heard the man had a "very strong attraction that blossomed into love" for the girl and had written her a letter of apology expressing his remorse for the harm and distress he had caused her.

Judge Allen told the man's defence lawyer he would need to see a full psychological report before being able to sentence.

"Without a psychological report, I can't assess the need for community protection or rehabilitation," he said.

He adjourned the case for further plea in October.

The maximum penalty for each charge is 10 years in jail.

The prosecution has asked for an immediate term of imprisonment.
