DARISE Birrell and her teenage son Cole say they would be lost without the support of Scope.
Born with cerebral palsy and epilepsy, doctors told Ms Birrell her son would never walk or talk.
But with the support of Scope the family were able to purchase a David Hart Walker - a device which allows Cole to walk independently.
"It's amazing. When he stands up he looks so proud," Ms Birrell said.
"He is able to stand up in front of his peers, when you are in a wheelchair, you have to look up all the time.
"It has given him a sense of independence we never thought possible."
Ms Birrell said every six months Cole would attend appointments at Scope to ensure the device was functioning correctly while his body grew.
He also received physiotherapy and occupational therapy through the service.
"We would have been lost without them. They are wonderful," she said.
"No question is too silly, they are there for us all the time. If there is a little bit of a hiccup, they are only a phone call away."
Cole said staff at Scope helped him with his disability.
"His words were, 'They are magical'," Ms Birrell said.
