Chief operating officer Neville Pearce said the maintenance was part of an ongoing program.
"This maintenance ensures the drinking water we supply to our customers is safe and meets international standards," he said.
"The program, which involves flushing the system to maintain chlorine levels, will start in Chewton and be rolled out across the network over an eight week period."
Mr Pearce said customers would not experience any impact on the flow or pressure of their water supply during this time although they may notice a slight change in taste and odour.
"This is all part of our routine maintenance process and at all times the water remains perfectly safe to drink," he said.
Mr Pearce said Coliban Water staff and contractors would use fire hydrants to flush chlorinated water through the system.
