A police spokeswoman said the family of the motorcyclist had been notified.
UPDATE 10pm: A Campbells Creek man, 57, was killed on Friday morning after his motorcycle collided with a four-wheel drive.
Detective Sergeant Mark Amos said marks on the tarmac indicated the four-wheel drive was on the wrong side of the road.
"The injuries when a motorcyclist is hit by a car are horrific. It is an absolute trauma to see and there is no other way to describe it, it's a nightmare," Detective Sergeant Amos said.
He said it was not known why the four-wheel drive was on the wrong side of the road.
No charges have yet been laid. Police are continuing their investigation.
UPDATE 2.55pm: Police and emergency services are at the scene of a fatal collision at Baringhup West.
It’s believed a motorcycle travelling west on Baringhup Road collided head-on with a four-wheel drive vehicle, travelling east, about 11.25am.
The motorcycle rider died at the scene and next of kin are yet to be notified.
An 84-year-old Narrawong man, who was driving the four-wheel drive, was not injured and is helping investigators.
Major Collision Investigation Group detectives are investigating.

UPDATE 1.05pm: Police have confirmed a man has died in a crash near Maldon.
The Victoria Police Major Collision Unit is on its way to the scene, near Allans Road at Baringhup.
UPDATE 12.30PM:
AN Ambulance Victoria spokesman said he believed a motorcyclist had collided with a vehicle on Baringhup Road near Carisbrook.
He said he believed the motorcyclist had suffered serious leg injuries.
EARLIER:
COUNTRY Fire Authority services are heading to an incident near Carisbrook.
The CFA warnings and incident website says the job was called in at 11.55am today.
