The $13 million state-of-art building, named The Naunton Family Building, was opened on Monday.
It features a 176-seat lecture theatre, an art room, a careers guidance centre, eight science laboratories, study rooms and a library.
Mr Maruff said the building was a significant investment for future staff and students, and signified a commitment to the growth and progress of the school.
"By having the very best facilities we support the excellence in academic and co-academic areas of education that the school consistently strives to achieve," he said.
"Bendigo is a great place in which to live and work and quality schools play a huge part in strong communities and in helping to bring talent to this city."
Mr Maruff said construction of the building was undertaken by local businesses and the school sought the views of staff and students on the design process.
He said the building was named after Donald and Carolyn Naunton, who have contributed many volunteers hours for the betterment of the school.
He will leave a powerful legacy for which future students will always feel grateful.

The pair's eight children all attended the school and Mr Naunton has held many roles with the school over the years, including board chairman and finance committee chairman.
"He will leave a powerful legacy for which future students will always feel grateful," Mr Maruff said.
We have an incredible community of support through our board, staff, and student and parent networks which have made the investment in this building possible."
