The Gippsland, North Gippsland and Mid Gippsland football leagues all have differing player points systems in place.
The structures vary from assisting clubs that are in small population areas, to it being based on ladder positions from the previous year and helping the lower-placed clubs.
GIPPSLAND LEAGUE
Each club’s points allocation is based on their population from the most recent Census figures:
Over 15,000 - 31 points.
10,000-15,000 - 33 points.
5,000-10,000 - 35 points.
3000-5000 - 37 points.
2000-3000 - 40 points.
1000-2000 - 45 points.
Under 1000 - 50 points.
Penalties for breach: loss of premiership points in a win, nil scoring points for and fine of $1000.
In a defeat, nil scoring points for and fine of $1000.
NORTH GIPPSLAND
Each club’s points allocation is determined by their ladder position and results of the previous season.
Premiers - 30 points.
2nd-3rd - 31 points.
4th-5th - 32 points.
7 or more games won, but not in finals - 34 points.
4 to 6 games won - 36 points.
0 to 3 games won - 38 points.
Penalties for breach: in first case, loss of premiership points, nil scoring for and premiership points awarded to opposition.
In a loss, nil scoring points for.
In second case, a $500 fine is added to the penalties.
MID GIPPSLAND
The top four clubs from the previous year are allowed 30 points, with clubs outside the top four granted extra points.
5th - 31 points.
6th - 32 points.
7th-8th - 33 points.
9th-10th - 34 points.
Penalties for breach: loss of premiership points, nil scoring points, fine of $500 and premiership points awarded to opposition.
In a loss, nil scoring points and fine of $500.
• Across the three leagues, all players are ranked between one and four points based on playing history, and all offer one-point deductions each year a player has been at their club.
