To have this sort of team like Melbourne City come to the region and play against our local team, FC Bendigo, is going to be sensational.
Not many people go down to Melbourne from Bendigo to watch the soccer, but to have it up here is great news.
Hopefully other local talent across the Bendigo region, will be able to pick up some new ideas and tips for when they go out onto a pitch and play for their club and maybe become a professional themselves.
What makes it even more exciting is that we will hopefully get to see some of the top players from Europe playing in the city.
The likes of Spanish star David Villa, Ireland's Damien Duff and Slovenian striker Robert Koren play in the city would be a great opportunity.
If someone said to me 12 months ago, David Villa is coming to Australia but also coming to Bendigo I would of told them to wake up, but now it is actually happening.
It is very exciting.
I know that every youngster will look up these players and head down to watch them play.
We see them play on television and one day hope to be like them and now we get to see them up close.
I am looking forward to see them play, and I know most soccer players in Bendigo are.
FC Bendigo will take on Melbourne City on September 2 at the Epsom-Huntly Recreation Reserve football oval.
