In fact I actively despise shows that show women in this fashion.
However, I feel the need to comment on what is happening to one of the contestants of this year’s The Bachelor.
Anita is a young vulnerable woman with no media experience. In the lead-up to the show's premier this newspaper promoted her as their "'local girl''. The next day it all went pear-shaped.
We were all expecting some negativity following her appearance on The Bachelor.
This is a risk you take with so-called ''reality'' TV. However, perhaps only Shine and Channel 10 may have been aware of what was really in store for this country girl.
Almost every radio station, newspaper and social media forum nationwide has some hate to share about Anita.
On premier night alone more than 1000 hate comments appeared on the ''monitored'' Channel 10 site, but the next day the number had reached 2000.
The hate and negativity aimed at Anita is something I have never before witnessed in such a huge volume.
The local support from Bendigo media on the Wednesday turned to fuelling this hate and humiliation by early Thursday morning.
Where had the people behind our local girl gone now?
Have we not learnt from past mistakes?
Have we not seen the tragic effects of such targets?
Anita is a beautiful, caring and kind young woman who created, built and managed a successful Bendigo business.
Anita is my daughter.
