Thunder coach Russell Jeffrey said on Friday it was not a decision the club had taken lightly to pull out of the round 12 match.
“The fact is we have a number of players unavailable due to injury,” Jeffrey said.
“This has caused a shortage of suitably fit players to make up a full team.
“Despite having a squad of 14 players keen to play, some of them are less than fully fit and carrying injuries and the issue of player welfare from our club’s perspective is essential.
“To go into a game undermanned is one thing, but to take into a game players who are already injured is not something we regard as acceptable.
“Forfeiting is not something we do lightly.
“Despite facing imposing opposition week in, week out, the team has remained determined to play and improve.
“The club is determined to get a competitive squad together for the final two games of the season.”
The Thunder are 0-9 in their debut premier division season.
