The Tigers applied little pressure in a poor first half against Golden Square last week, and were also blown away early by the Storm back in their round five meeting when they were already 83 points down at the main break.
“An area we’ve let ourselves down - and I think it’s a result of the lack of confidence that has developed over the past month or so - is the players have gone away from backing themselves to try to win the footy first,” Adamson said on Friday.
“But we believe we’ve got a reasonable side in tomorrow and the approach I’ll be taking is all about getting on the front foot and for the guys to not feel like they’re shackled down early.
“We’ll be aiming to win some ball early, be positive and pro-active and get ourselves into a position where we can compete.
“It won’t be acceptable to be five-plus goals down at quarter-time... that’s going to make it a very difficult day for us.”
The Tigers and Storm enter Saturday’s round 15 match at the Kyneton Showgrounds in vastly different form.
Kyneton has lost its past six games by an average of 61 points, while the top-of-the-ladder Storm have won a club record 11 on the trot by an average of 80 points.
“No doubt it’s an enormous challenge for us. They are playing really well defensively, so we know it’s not going to be easy to kick a score, but we just need to throw everything into it early,” Adamson said.
The game starts at the earlier time of 1.50pm.
