YOUNG baseball stars from as far afield as Dandenong, La Trobe Valley, Geelong and Sunraysia will take to Eaglehawk at this weekend's under-12 state winter championships.
The two-day titles have drawn about 150 players.
Bendigo will be aiming to capitalise on home-diamond advantage at Albert Roy Reserve in Victoria Street, Eaglehawk.
There will be 24 games played across Saturday and Sunday.
“The winter championships are a festival of the sport, showcasing the state’s best talent and brings the excitement of our sport to regional hubs,” said Baseball Victoria CEO Neale Price.
“This championship is an important event on our calendar, and is an extremely important program within the development pathway both within Victoria and within the Australia juniors landscape.”
City of Greater Bendigo major events manager Terry Karamaloudis said it would be a great weekend for baseball.
“We must encourage junior sport in as many sectors as we can, for this creates tomorrow's sporting success stories."
The lead-up to the titles included Baseball Victoria's inclusion and participation development officer Thomas Dicker running T-Ball Smash Clinics on Thursday and Friday at selected Bendigo primary schools.
