Bendigo is forecast to reach a top of 11 degrees with a low of -1 on Saturday so prepare for some morning frost.

Sunday's forecast looks similar with a low of -2 degrees with severe morning frost.

Victoria was dusted with the most  widespread snow in more than 25 years, in what was also the coldest August day in almost six years on Friday.

Icy temperatures have seen freak snowfall just kilometres away from the beach in Lorne, into the Otways, and across the Macedon Ranges and Grampians.

UPDATE 1PM: A fallen tree limb has brought down powerlines in Havlin Street East. 

Powercor has been called to the scene after the tree limb fell just after 12.30pm today. 

The tree brought down the powerlines but did not snap them; the power remains on at the residential property. 

The street is closed and traffic is being diverted from the area. 

UPDATE 11.30AM: Mount Macedon has been blanketed by snow, with temperates plummeting to one degree overnight. 

Snow fell in areas from Trentham to Mount Macedon, Kyneton and Woodend.

Central Victoria is bracing for a second day of wild weather with a severe weather warning still in place for people in the Mallee, Wimmera, North Central, South West, West and South Gippsland and East Gippsland forecast districts.

The Bureau Of Meteorology is forecasting damaging winds squalls with peak gusts of 90km/h to redevelop over western and southern areas of the state during the day, mainly associated with showers and thunderstorms.

Blizzard conditions are forecast for alpine areas.

The severe weather warning for parts of the Northern Country and North East forecast districts has been cancelled, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary, the Bureau Of Meteorology reports.

Another cold front will enter south western Victoria this morning and then move across the state during the day.

Showers with local hail and thunder will spread across the state with the change and wind squalls to 90km/h associated with heavy showers or thunderstorms are likely.

Winds will moderate from the west later this afternoon and evening.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:

-Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.

-Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.

-Keep clear of fallen power lines.

-Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water.

-Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.

-Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
