Last time: Round 8, 2014: Campbells Creek 21.10 (136) d Maldon 7.9 (51).
Since 2004: Maldon 14; Campbells Creek 2.
MALDON - the Bombers will be aiming over their last three games to pick up at least one more win to give themselves a chance of avoiding the wooden spoon. They take on Campbells Creek at home and are playing more competitive footy than round eight when they lost to the Creekers by 85.
CAMPBELLS CREEK - that long-awaited finals berth is now staring the Creekers right in the face. They beat Trentham by 23 points last week and are now two games inside the top eight with three rounds to go. Should win Saturday to square up at 7-7.
TIP: Campbells Creek by 30.
NATTE BEALIBA v AVOCA - 2.35pm Saturday at Natte Yallock.
Last time: Round 1, 2014: Natte Bealiba 18.12 (120) d Avoca 10.6 (66).
Since 2011: Natte Bealiba 5; Avoca 1.
NATTE BEALIBA - finished the closest any team has to power side Navarre this season when beaten by 24 points last week. Despite the loss, the Swans remain within one game of the top four and are expected to welcome back two of their best forwards in Ryan Weir and Matt Stagg for this clash.
AVOCA - having won three in a row between rounds nine and 11, the Bulldogs have since dropped their past two games to Royal Park (40) and Carisbrook (73). Have a strong rivalry with the Swans, but would be a big upset if they took the points.
TIP: Natte Bealiba by 50.
NEWSTEAD v CARISBROOK - 2.35pm Saturday at Newstead.
Last time: Round 1, 2014: Newstead 10.8 (68) d Carisbrook 7.5 (47).
Since 2004: Carisbrook 11; Newstead 6; Drawn 1.
NEWSTEAD - now two games clear inside the top four after last week’s 62-point win over Harcourt. Another win on Saturday against fourth-placed Carisbrook - like they did in round one - would all but lock away the double chance. Conceded just 18 goals their past three games.
CARISBROOK - it’s not often the Redbacks lose two in a row. In fact, it hasn’t happened since 2010. But after going down to Lexton last weekend and with a tough away game, the pressure is right on the Redbacks to retain their one-game top-four buffer.
TIP: Carisbrook by 6.
