The Neangar Park Pro-Am will carry prizemoney of $10,000 with the first tournament to be held on Monday, September 8 this year.
The field is expected to include Neangar Park's own Andrew Martin and Axedale's Kris Mueck.
PGA Tournament co-ordinator Cameron Davies said the addition of the Neangar Park Pro-Am will further boost the promotion of the game of golf, along with the playing and earning opportunities for the country’s many professionals.
“It is an exciting time for golf in the Bendigo area. Along with Neangar Park and the City of Greater Bendigo we are looking to grow the game and a Pro-Am is a great event to showcase the experts in the game” Mr Davies said.
Executive Officer of the PGA of Australia Southern Division David Tapping said the Neangar Park Pro-Am is a welcome announcement for the Choice Hotels PGA Pro-Am Series, joining several existing tournaments for a week of golf in the north western Victorian region.
“The series includes the Mallee Regional Pro-am in Mildura, Murray Downs Pro-Am in Swan Hill, Cohuna Pro-Am and the Border Open at Club Barham, before wrapping up at Neangar Park on September 8,” Mr Tapping said.
City of Greater Bendigo Major Events Manager Terry Karamaloudis said he commended the Neangar Park Golf Club for the hard work the club has completed to secure the Pro-Am.
“The City of Greater Bendigo’s Major Events Unit will continue to work with the club to ensure the ongoing success of the event,” Mr Karamaloudis said.
