Racing for Avanti, Jones won the 156.6km duel from Mildura to Robinvale ahead of team-mate Neil Van der Ploeg and Raphael Freinstein.
An exciting start to the year by Jones included winning the Mitchelton Wines-backed Bay Criterium Series and the Andy's Earthmovers-sponsored criterium at the Bendigo International Madison carnival in March.
Wednesday's racing in the Tour of the Murray starts with a 33km criterium in Swan Hill at 9.30am before riders start the 98.2km trek from Swan Hill to Quambatook at 1.30pm.
