The company has already been tasked with transforming Canterbury Park into a state-of-the-art sports hub.
Mayor Barry Lyons said Nicholson won the tender based on value for money and merit.
“Although it is ideal to have one company overseeing an entire project, Nicholson were also able to demonstrate excellent experience with works of a similar nature, knowledge of working with heritage buildings, were competitively priced and offered a suitable timeframe to complete the works,” Cr Lyons said.
A shipping container has been moved onsite and Nicholson will install temporary change rooms and amenities to allow Eaglehawk Football Club to host its last home game of the Bendigo Football Netball League season on August 9.
Nicholson are also working to ensure the public can have access to the grandstand for this match, before it is closed for public use so the redevelopment can commence and the project can be completed by December.
“This is an exciting next step in the overall redevelopment of the Canterbury Park Precinct that will see the grandstand restored to its original, splendid state,” Cr Lyons said.
“It is an iconic building in Eaglehawk and this transformation will give it a new lease on life.”
