PLANS to raise the dam walls at the Brunswick Mine in Costerfield, a new McDonald’s in California Gully worth $1 million, the formal Budget for 2014/15, the Bendigo Stadium Precinct Plan and a petition to retain Heathcote’s Barrack Reserve Play Space will come before City of Greater Bendigo councillors this week.
Councillors are recommended to support plans for an extension of the mine in Costerfield, with a report saying the mine proposal was in line with planning and environmental guidelines.
"The dams must be constructed to appropriate standards to prevent leakage and must be rehabilitated once no longer required," the report states.
The development of a 24-hour restaurant at Stafford Street, California Gully is also expected to be given the green light.
An 880-signature petition calling for the Barrack Reserve Play Space to be upgraded or replaced following months of inaction will also be presented to the council.
It states the replacement of the aged and depleted equipment at the existing playground is "long overdue".
"The project is funded in council's current budget and requires immediate implementation in accordance with the long held and repeatedly expressed views of the community," the petition says.
A proposed planning scheme amendment - which could inject tens of millions of dollars of investment and deliver a range of commercial and housing options in Bendigo - will also be debated.
Council wants to rezone the land at High Street Boulevard between Short Street and Shamrock Street to commercial 1.
Councillors will debate whether to ask Planning Minister Matthew Guy to update the planning controls that apply to boulevard.
Three City of Greater Bendigo councillors are also expected to oppose the formal adoption of the 2014/2015 Budget at Wednesday's meeting.
Almost 40 public submissions were received, with rate levels, staff numbers and the need for protected bike lanes in built up areas all raised.
Councillors Peter Cox, Helen Leach, and Elise Chapman have argued in the past that a six per cent rate rise is too high.
The draft revised Greater Bendigo Domestic Wastewater Management Strategy is also expected to be released for public exhibition.
