SOUTH Bendigo Athletics Club's young gun Emily Lawson finished sixth in Friday's semi-finals of the 400m at the world junior track and field championships in the United States.

Lawson achieved a time of 55.33 in the first of three semis run on the Oregon track.
The Kyabram-based sprinter began her campaign by clocking 54.83 in the last of five heats.
The final was won by Kendall Baisden from the United States in 51.85.
Lawson's focus now moves to the 4 x 400m relays.
The Peter Barrett-coached Lawson was Athletics Bendigo's Athlete of the Year for 2013-14.
