The remarkable bond between Glenn O'Shea and Tim Decker as cyclist and coach was forged in Bendigo many years ago.
They first joined forces when Decker was coach of the Bendigo Bank Academy of Sport's cycling program.
In the early hours of Friday it was Decker, as head coach of Cycling Australia's track endurance program, urging on four of the sport's best to a stunning victory.
For several years now O'Shea and Decker have teamed up to take on and triumph - whether it be world titles, national titles or Commonwealth Games.
At the lowest point of his racing career when he battled to overcome illness, O'Shea turned to Decker to help get back on track.
There's no magic formula or words from the coach other than sheer hard work can put any cyclist, or athlete, in with a shot of achieving greatness.
As the Games roll on, O'Shea and the rest of his Cyclones team-mates will chase more titles.
Decker is with them all the way.
