Maher has not played since he injured his wrist against Western Jets in round seven.
Pioneers’ coach David Newett said the captain’s return was a huge plus for the club.
“Jake can play on any line and inspires team-mates with his attack at the contest,” Newett said.
The Pioneers will be desperate to end a winless run when they clash with NT Thunder on Bendigo’s turf at Queen Elizabeth Oval.
“We have to bring the same intensity as our most recent game, and capitalise on scoring chances,” said Newett.
A key factor for the Pioneers will be halting NT’s run.
“They have a lot of skill and speed. For us it’s a matter of winning as many contests as we can, especially at centre bounces and stoppages.
“Get hands on the footy first and we are in control of the play.”
The Bendigo Pioneers and Northern Territory clash starts at 11am.
