In Bendigo alone this amounted to students spending up to $76.3 million in the local economy per annum and, when university and student expenditure was combined, supported 2099 jobs in the local economy and a contribution of $201.4 million per annum to Bendigo's gross regional product.
What must these figures be in 2014 as La Trobe proposes to force up to five per cent of its Bendigo-based workforce into redundancy?
