Little Creatures marketing manager Ash Cranston said Little Creatures brewery had a long history of supporting smaller beer festivals.
He said the brewery always looked at how they can help the little guy grow.
"We were once a little guy ourselves," he said.
Mr Cranston said after meeting the Bendigo Beer group three years ago the company had wanted to support them.
He said in a "region that was low on craft (beer) they have done a cracking job of increasing craft (beer) awareness".
He said it was a perfect opportunity to support and help them add to the work they have already done.
He said with the addition of a new brewery in Geelong the company were focusing more on being community based.
Mr Cranston said the Bendigo on the Hop festival was unique in comparison to others.
The festival offers access to 10 different venues and more than 35 rare craft beers.
Bendigo Beer chair and co-founder Trevor Birks said the event was a testament to how far the city had progressed on the national craft beer scene.
"We certainly could not have attempted this back in 2011 when Bendigo Beer began," he said.
"It's a huge compliment to the city's good beer and food venues that have pioneered craft beer over the last three years.
"We are expecting a large number of craft beer tourists from Melbourne and surrounding regional areas so we're certainly excited to show everyone around Bendigo's craftiest venues."
He said it would be an interactive and fluid event.
He said their desire to include Little Creatures as a sponsor of the festival was due to their brand.
He said Little Creatures was the foremost craft beer brand in Australia.
He said he hoped their involvement would encourage the promotion of the Bendigo region throughout Australia.
