I first saw it in Bourke Street Mall, Melbourne, then in the Hargreaves Mall, here in Bendigo. Now it has moved to the Bendigo Tram No. 302.
Whether one views it as quaintly subversive or as an artistic statement, many people who craft, view it as a waste of yarn and of the knitters' time and money.
There are myriad charities that are crying out for knitwear and rugs for needy people.
Rather than do street art, which rarely lasts more than a few days in the elements, I would encourage local knitters and crocheters to craft for the Salvos, Vinnies, RSPCA, soldiers on deployment, or indigenous communities.
These are just a few of the charitable causes who would love to receive your brilliant and comforting works of art.
