I AM disappointed at both the letter Ms Karen Kyle wrote (Bendigo Advertiser, July 18) and the fact that Bendigo Advertiser published it.

In the recent weeks there has been a strong emphasis about equality, respect and tolerance, and yet Ms Kyle feels it is okay to mock Jesus Christ.
Why does tolerance, equality and respect automatically exclude Christianity?
When swimmers are attacked for having a religious deity on their swimsuit or newspapers are attacked for inappropriate religious cartoons, we nod our heads and applaud in agreement, but yet the same respect is not applied to Christianity... we can mock Jesus Christ and there is not an eyebrow raised. Why?
As much as it is absolutely wrong and highly inappropriate for me to mock the gods or deities of other religions, the same must apply to Christianity.
Jesus Christ is my Saviour and I am saddened and offended when people depict Him in such a sacrilegious, derogatory manner.
