The word soroptomist come from two Latin words; 'soro' meaning the sister and 'optima' meaning the best.
Heather McNeil said the group aimed to achieve the best for women and girls worldwide.
She said the group took part in local and international projects.
She said they celebrated the great work of the women who had been there since the beginning.
She said the women of the group enjoyed looking back on what had happened over the years of service.
Mrs McNeil said the groups major contributions were to Haven. Home Safe and the Birthing in the Pacific program.
"The birthing program assists with training so women can work in remote areas," she said.
"So areas with a high mortality rate can receive proper birthing care."
The group is committed to helping women reach their potential.
