He now volunteers twice a week at the Vision Australia Day Centre in Bendigo, holding activities, playing games and having a chat to four groups of vision-impaired people.

"It’s the most rewarding thing I’ve ever done," Mr Meehan said.

"If we can make their day enjoyable then to me that is a highlight." 

Mr Meehan plays a game called “swish” with the attendees at Vision Australia; a vision-impaired version of table tennis in which a ball filled with bells is hit against a wall.

"I don’t know who has more fun, them or me," Mr Meehan said.

He recently ran a talk, in which he brought in gem stones to show to the attendees.

"That was one of my proudest moments; they all really enjoyed themselves, and I had a great time," he said.

"To see everyone who comes along having fun, and getting out of the house to have a social life, it really makes it all worthwhile."
