Jason Wingfield, Roger Mifsud, Glen Steven and Brian Walden competed for the crown of Victorian State Champion.
Reigning Victorian champion Jason Wingfield vied to keep his title.
Northern Shears chairman Garry Griffin said Mr Wingfield was Australian shearing champion and a hot favourite to win the event.
Mr Griffin said the competition would not be easy, with experienced shearer Brian Walden competing against him.
With 25 years' shearing competition experience under his belt, Mr Walden tends to go for quality rather than speed.
