The MIFF Premiere Showcase has been able to get back on the road thanks to funding from the state government.
The roadshow stops at Mildura between August 29 and 31 before visiting Bendigo from September 5 to 7 and finishes with visits to Geelong and Sorrento.
The re-launched regional travelling festival will include matinees and Saturday night specials.
Seventies-based crime drama Cut Snake, documentary Electric Boogaloo and films Galore, The Legend Maker and My Mistress will all screen at Star Cinema as part of the regional tour.
Cut Snake tells the story of Sparra Farrell (Alex Russell), a young man trying to escape his past and make a life for himself in a new city. It is director Tony Ayres' first feature film since The Home Song Stories (2007).
Star Cinema manager Hannah Morton said the cinema's recent digital upgrade had attracted more film-based events to Eaglehawk.
“We are already seeing a number of great partnership opportunities for the Star Cinema, and the MIFF Premiere Showcase is just one," she said.
“We are so pleased that a part of the Melbourne International Film Festival is coming back to regional areas, and we’re thrilled to be a part of their Premiere Showcase”
“It’s great that such top notch Australian films will be featuring on our screen over that weekend, and we especially look forward to (Cut Snake) Tony Ayre’s first feature film since The Home Song Stories, which we will enjoy with a glass of bubbly at the opening night gala.”
Ms Morton said Star Cinema would announce more in the coming months.
The festival runs in Melbourne from July 31 to August 17.
