The regional tour arrived at Star Cinema in Eaglehawk on Saturday to a sold out house who gave a great reaction to the selection of short films.

"It went down really well.The whole tour has been fantastic, especially the reactions to the films," he said. "I think most people have been chuffed with teh quality of the (shorts). 

"Most people prefer to watch feature films or TV drama but these short films are of equal quality and made by young up-and-comers."

A number of films in the St Kilda Film Festival were set in regional areas with country South Australia, Shepparton, and Dookie all providing backdrops.

"There is quite a trend toward regional-based films and interest has increased in the past couple of years," Mr Harris said. "I put it down to word of mouth and getting communities behind (festivals) as a social event."

The St Kilda Film Festival regional tour finishes this week with stops in Portland and Queenscliff.
