The Epsom line-up played well to be within a goal of the ladder-leading Strathdale at half-time.
A double by Sean Boxshall and another goal by Jon Bryers clinched a 3-2 win for Strathdale.

In the youth championship matches, Strathdale beat Epsom, 6-0; Swan Hill won 3-1 at Eaglehawk; and Golden City scored a 3-2 win against Moama Border Raiders.
