Bridegroom’s name: Jamie Dalrymple
Wedding date: March 1, 2014
The meeting:
We met at a mutual friend’s birthday party. The theme was footy shorts and flannelette shirts so really it was love at first sight!
The proposal:
I was in Melbourne one Saturday and Jamie contacted me during the day and to ask if I could pick something up for his dad before I left Melbourne. The story was very plausible and I didn’t suspect anything! Jamie told me to go to the Hilton and ask for a certain worker and said they would help me out. When I got to the hotel the lady said to follow her and took me up a few levels and knocked on a door then left. I didn’t know what to think while waiting for the door to open. When it opened Jamie was standing there in a suit with music playing, candles and rose petals everywhere. There was no mistaking what was happening then. So after a lot of ‘Oh My Goshes’ from myself, Jamie composed himself, got down on one knee and proposed.
The wedding day:
We were married at St Martin’s Catholic Church in Muskerry. We then had our wedding photos taken at my family’s farm in Axe Creek. The reception was held at our home in Junortoun. We enlisted the help of Bendigo Party Hire who put up marquees in our backyard. The girls from ‘Lazy flowers’ arranged the centrepieces for our tables, which looked beautiful. We hired Rankin’s catering for the menu and Glen and his team did a wonderful job. Earlier this year we had a deck built which turned out to be our dance floor. Everyone had a great time dancing the night away.
The dress:
I made my wedding dress and also the three bridesmaid’s dresses. The material for my wedding dress was from Clegs and included a lace overlay with silk lining and a scalloped lace hem. The bridesmaids material was from House of Frankie Stuart and included silk chiffon.
The cake:
Our cake was a two tier marble cake with white chocolate icing from Noeline Ead which was served as the dessert. Jamie put together the cake stand with off-cuts from our new decking.
The photography:
The photos were taken by Stephen Nokes who is a friend of ours and Ash Lance assisted him. We were so lucky to have them there all day with us and couldn’t be happier with what they captured.
The honeymoon:
We went to Port Vila, Vanuatu. It was such a beautiful relaxed place and was exactly what we needed for our getaway.
