21 senior football premierships and 12 A grade netball premierships makes the Superoos the envy of many country clubs.
All this from a town, which according to the 2006 census, has a population of just 76.
The number of people in town will swell dramatically on Saturday when the Superoos celebrate their 125th anniversary.
The club hosts long-time rival Calivil United at Mitiamo, with a gala function to follow at the ground.
More than 400 people from across Australia are travelling back to Mitiamo to join in the celebrations.
“People just love this club,’’ Mitiamo committee member and club stalwart Brad Spence said.
“The number of people living in the area is dwindling, but the club remains very strong.
“To have so many people attending this weekend says a lot about the club.”
The Superoos started in the Mitiamo District Football Association, winning six premierships between 1900 and 1907.
The club then played in the East Loddon District Football Association, winning three flags in four years between 1910 and 1913.
A move to the Tandarra-Macorna Line Association followed, with premiership success in 1924 and 1928.
The Superoos dominated the Mitiamo and District Football League, playing in 10 grand finals between 1944 and 1955 and winning five premierships.
The move to the Loddon Valley Football League didn’t hinder Mitiamo’s progress.
Between 1960 and 1980 the club played in eight grand finals, winning three flags.
The Superoos have played in five grand finals since then, for two premierships in 1999 and 2009.
When it comes to netball in the LVFNL, the Superoos have been a force since inception in 1966.
Mitiamo has won 12 A grade premierships since 1966, including a stretch of four in a row between 2002-2005.
“For some reason we have always produced good netballers,’’ Spence said.
“Even in recent years where we’ve struggled to field under-17 football teams, our netball teams from A grade through to under-15s have been very strong.
“This year every team is in the top five.”
Saturday night’s function will be hosted by Mitiamo identity and former Puma national promotions manager John Forbes and former Carlton and St Kilda star Ken Sheldon, who was recruited by the Blues from Mitiamo.
One of the highlights of the night will be the naming of Mitiamo’s greatest 28 footballers and eight netballers.
The selection panel faced a tough a tough task to narrow the field to 28 footballers and eight netballers.
The club has produced a plethora of star players.
On the football field, Allen Marlow (1953, 1955), George Ennor (1960), Cress Thompson (1963), Max Coutts (1974), Ian Marlow (1981), Shawn McCormick (1988), Tim Wicks (1998, 2001, 2007) and Luke Mitchell (2010, 2011) won league best and fairest awards.
On the netball court, Glenda Thomas (1983, 1991, 1996), Rae Spence (1998), Simone Butler (2005) and Laura Hicks (2009, 2012) have won league best and fairest awards.
“It’s going to be a great day and night for Mitiamo,’’ Spence said.
“Hopefully, the footballers and netballers can do the right thing and beat Calivil.”
