TO HELP celebrate his 50th birthday Mick Griffin has organised a two-day music festival. As you do.

So what brought on the urge for Mick to host a two-day music festival?

"Well, why not," he said.

"I'm in the music scene each weekend, week in, week out.

"Every friend I've got is a musician or in the music scene in some way, so it's a great way of bringing everyone together and having a good-old fashioned knees up."

The festival will be at the Musicman Megastore in Williamson Street, Bendigo and includes a mix of bands and genres.

"Both nights I have a good mix of pop rock, heavy metal and some blues," he said.

"I've very much tried to keep it happy and up-tempo party music - that's what this weekend's all about."

On Friday Rabid Zulu, Path of Destruction and Aimee Francis will take to the stage along side 180 Proof, Slydekrieg, The Caning and Michael Yule.

Saturday sees Bones Blackwood, Greenthief, Bricks and Charm kick off the night alongside Necorn 99, Kilamaine, Cold Red Mue, Chase the Ace, Neurotik Trendz and Black Alleys.

Doors open at 5pm on each night. Entry costs a donation with the door being split between the bands.
