A report tabled at last night's council meeting shows that in addition to the 32 completed recommendations, progress has been made on 29 others.
Mayor Barry Lyons said he was pleased with the results.
“The idea behind the review was to see how the council might do things even better,” Cr Lyons said.
“The fact that 33 recommendations have been completed within the first year is a testament to the city’s commitment to continuous improvement.”
He said significant achievements included improved budgetary processes including a new framework for evaluating and prioritising capital works projects and operational initiatives and new planning delegations to allow more time for councillors to dedicate to strategic planning and policy issues.
Council has also improved access to information and services relating to statutory planning and introduced new strategies and policies for managing the city’s assets and infrastructure portfolio.
Chief executive Craig Niemann noted that 36 recommendations still needed to be completed and many of them would require significant work.
“We are on track to complete implementation within this term of council, as required under the Terms of Reference adopted by the Implementation Committee, and this remains our timeframe for completion,” Mr Niemann said.
