BENDIGO and District Aboriginal Co-operative announced Raylene Harradine as its new chief executive on Thursday morning.
Ms Harradine, who has served as interim chief since September last year, said she was looking forward to playing her part in the further expansion of the Aboriginal health service provider.
"When we started in 2001 we had a staff of two or three," she said.
"We now have a staff of between 65 and 70.
"I'm looking forward to leading BDAC into the future - it's all about bringing the staff with us too as we continue to grow."
BDAC had its sights set on a 2017 opening of its Prouses Road premises - a project Ms Harradine hoped to oversee during her term as chief.
The board of five directors chose the former Department of Justice policy officer earlier this month.
BDAC chairwoman Aunty Lyn Warren said Ms Harradine had the "strength and the knowledge" to lead BDAC.
