We met through the Albury Tigers football-netball club where we both played at in 2003. It was then we discovered we were both studying Occupational Therapy at Charles Sturt University. After a few attempts to capture Jane-Maree's attention it was the end of year presentation ball where Kane's dance moves impressed....
The proposal:
Kane first asked Jane-Maree's father, Doug for permission. It was then a trip to one of our favourite places Waterfall farm - a clearwater stream near Jane-Maree’s family farm on new years eve 2012/13 that Kane proposed whilst swimming in the water and had the ring in a nearby Esky with some celebratory drinks.
The wedding day:
The wedding took place in the King Valley half way between both of our families (Paton family from Corryong and Fitzpatrick family from Bendigo) and a place we love to visit. We wanted a relaxed country style wedding. The ceremony was at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Moyhu - a beautiful red brick church with stained glass windows. Jane-Maree arrived in an old 1950's FJ Holden car with both her parents.
Bridesmaids included Jane-Maree's two sisters Emily and Kathryn, as well as two friends from university Sally and Emma.
Groomsmen included Kane's two brothers Brennan and Nick, as well as a friend he went through school with in Bendigo - Ben, and a university friend Josh.
Jane-Maree's niece Eliza was the flower girl and nephews Will, Arch, Lachlan and Charlie helped on the day as the page boys.
The reception followed at Gracebrook Vineyard - an old stables converted into a cellar door and restaurant by Rhonda and Dave Maples who also happen to have been married on 22nd February many years ago! Guests enjoyed canapes and home made cocktails outside on the deck and under the trees before sitting down for the formalities of the evening. We danced our first dance to Roy Orbison's 'You got it'. Paul William Ray and his band played throughout the night on the deck where guests danced outside under the stars.
The dress:
Jane-Maree wore an ivory coloured, slim fitted with all over lace dress with silk underlay, v-shaped neckline and sculpted low back with a line of covered buttons, and matching mid-length veil from Hills in Hollywood (High Street, Armadale). This was accompanied by pearl earrings (a gift from Kane many years ago), a pearl bracelet, and a family broach from her grandmother Queenie. A ceramic flower hairpiece from Linda Gorringe Couture was also worn.
The cake:
A three tiered cake of white chocolate mud, fruit cake and dark chocolate mud covered with white icing and decorated with sugar flowers. Made by Noeline Ead, a family friend from Bendigo.
The photography:
The photos were taken by John Mitchell a local photographer from Milawa.
The honeymoon:
The happy couple went to the NSW coast for a short break and plan to travel to Darwin and New Zealand later in this year as an extended honeymoon.
