There were many memorable performances in all sorts of sports.
The year kicked off with Daniel Steinhauser winning the Bendigo Bank-backed Maryborough Gift 120m on New Year's Day at Princes Park.
The Maryborough HIghland Gathering included the HIghland Games, featuring the popular caber tossing, as well as the heavy stones contest.
Highs of the year included the visit by Olympic gold medallist Chantelle Newbery, nee Michell, for the unveiling of the Bendigo Divers Wall of Fame at Bendigo Aquatic Centre.
The action was also hot on the cricket field, bowls green, tennis courts.
For others one of the best ways to keep cool was compete in diving, swimming or water polo.
Lots of runs, wickets and catches were racked up as Bendigo Bank Country Cricket Week drew players from near and far.
