The incident happened about 11.15am.
Traffic travelling away from Bendigo is being diverted into Edwards Road.
Firies are also on scene.
A CFA media spokeswoman said no one was trapped.
UPDATE 12.08pm: Police remain at the scene of a two-car collision at Maiden Gully as County Fire Authority crews assess the vehicles.
Bendigo police Senior Constable Dave Sanders said a black Holden Astra travelling on Edwards Road failed to give way at the intersection of Calder Highway and collided with a white Holden Commodore station-wagon travelling towards Marong.
The 20-year-old green P-plate driver in the Astra was uninjured in the crash.
Paramedics were assessing an eight-week old baby girl from the second car, also carrying her parents and two-year-old sister.
Both drivers are believed to be from Marong.
Traffic diversions are still in place.
Senior Constable Dave Sanders said an infringement notice for failing to give way would be issued to the Astra driver.
UPDATE 12.43pm: The scene is now clear and traffic diversions have been cancelled.
Police said paramedics treated some minor injuries at the scene, but no one was taken to hospital.
