McLaren is in the squad of 25, who will compete at the NAB AFL Under-16 Championships on the Gold Coast.
The World Team players are from multicultural backgrounds were selected by AFL Talent Managers following the Australia Post All Nations Cup held in Coffs Harbour earlier this year.
AFL Multicultural ambassador David Rodan said McLaren had great awareness.
"Born in Ethiopia, Tensae is a fast, tough and hardworking defender with great skills," he said.
The championships will run between July 6 and 12.
