The Thunder were outscored 179 goals to three over the first half of the season, with the aim for the rest of the year to better their efforts against their opponents from their first meeting.
That starts on Sunday against unbeaten top side Darebin - a team the Thunder lost to by 304 points in round two.
“Once it became clear that we were going to be in for a tough year, the whole aim of the season has been to continually progress and improve,” coach Russell Jeffrey said.
“Again, we’ll look to give some opportunities to young players, with potentially a couple of Echuca Youth Girls players to line up with us on permit on Sunday.
“Darebin has proven it’s the best side in the competition this year, so we know it will be another very tough task, but it’s all about getting out there and having a crack.”
Sunday's game will be played at West Preston's AH Capp Reserve from 2pm.
