The young gun was selected in the 15 years and under state team, which will compete against the best footballers from across the country.
Each team will be vying to win the prestigious School Sport Australian Football Championship title.
Farrell, who also plays with the Castlemaine Football- Netball Club, put in a great performance throughout the selection process.
Magpies secretary Lorelle Huntly said the Castlemaine Football-Netball Club was extremely proud of Kane’s commitment and dedication.
"We wish him the best of luck and enjoyment on this fabulous opportunity that he has gained due to his ability and hard work and look forward to hearing all about it when he returns," she said.
Huntly said she hoped the Victorian team could win the coveted title and that Farrell would break through the senior ranks at Castlemaine over the coming years.
Castlemaine Football Club senior coach Shane Robertson congratulated the youngster for making the Victorian team.
Farrell will be joined by 24 other football players from across the state at the national championships.
The Victorian team will play in Sydney from July 19 to 26.
Before the championships, Farrell will play in a series of practice matches and training sessions.
