LOCALS have transformed Maldon into a white wonderland, as people travelled from far and wide to celebrate the start of its annual winter festival at the weekend.

Businesses along the main street decked their shop fronts out in a Christmas theme, with the Corner Store given the coveted titled of this year's best shop window display.
Festival committee member Viv Markham said wet weather had forced the fire brigade to postpone Saturday night's bonfire and fireworks display to July 12.
She said the street market had attracted fewer people than previous years due to rain but wanted to remind people the festival spanned two weeks.
"There are lots of great activities scheduled over the two weeks, with lots to see and do for everyone," she said.
"And there will be the opportunity to enjoy the bonfire and fireworks on the last Saturday of the school holidays."
Highlights of the festival include, an old-time dance on July 4 at 8pm at the Masonic Hall, the Maldon Art Show at the Maldon Community Centre from July 5 to July 13 and a Steam Train for Kids ride from 10am to 4pm on July 12 and July 13 at the Maldon Railway Station.
